AN ELDERLY man has been charged with sexual grooming after police intervened in an incident in Promenade Park.
Essex Police were given information by the self-styled paedophile hunter group CSE Interceptors that a man was meeting an under-age girl to attempt sexual contact in the Maldon park in June this year.
A man was arrested at the scene, being held in custody before being released on bail on July 10.
Douglas Hutchings, 74, of High Street, Maldon, has been charged with sexual grooming.
He is due to appear before Chelmsford Magistrate's Court on October 11.
