AN incredible night of music will be coming to Maldon when two songwriters reunite for a special gig.

State of the Union will see Boo Hewerdine and Brooks Williams team up for a show five years after they last took to the stage in the town.

The duo will play at The Blue Boar Hotel on Tuesday September 26 as part of macTheatre’s Music Nights.

Hewerdine is best known from his years fronting the much loved English rock band The Bible.

He went on to have a solo career and has written songs for stars Sia, Kris Drever and K.D. Lang.

Hewerdine has also written music for the BBC’s Olympics coverage.

Williams started his musical career in the clubs and bars of Boston in the US and toured for more than three decades.

He is ranked in the top 100 acoustic guitarists in the world.

The show is a collection of some of Williams’ and Hewerdine’s favourite songs by some of the best UK and USA artists, including Johnny Cash, Linda Thompson, Greg Trooper, John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

The pair have never sounded better and all the elements are in place for a very special evening.

macTheatre organiser Nicola Esson said it was great the duo were returning to Maldon.

She said: “Audiences were blown away [last time]. It was a wonderful night and they created an energy in the room that had an uplifting effect on everyone.

“Five years on they are back at The Blue Boar which we are absolutely thrilled about.

“There’s no doubt about it that a certain synergy is created when these two exceptional musicians and songwriters get together.

“Both artists have busy, successful solo careers so it’s a pretty special occasion to be part of this intimate night.”

The show will take place on Tuesday September 26 at 8pm. Tickets are £15 and available from Maldon Tourist Information Centre on 01621 856503 or online at mactheatre.org.uk.
