AN ASHELDHAM care home has benefited from a £3,000 donation from the Burnham & Dengie Rotary Club.

The rotary club held their annual Burnham 10km run around Burnham in May.

The hugely successful event allowed the club to make a substantial donation to Knightswood Day Centre, in Asheldham.

The day centre, who recently moved to their new base from Southminster, relies on donations from organisations such as the rotary club to keep running as they provide care to elderly residents in the district.

Peter Burton, president of the Burnham & Dengie Rotary Club, met with Barbara Duffy, chairman of Knightswood board of trustees, at the day centre to present a cheque of £3,362.

Tina Fisher, on behalf of Knightswood, said: “None of this could have materialised without the magnificent support we have received from local businesses and the community. We ask that you all continue to raise awareness of what is on offer here so that it enables anyone of any age in the district to know they are welcome to enjoy this wonderful caring facility we have available”

Peter Burton added: “The work that the Trust has carried out here is remarkable for both its rapidity of relocation and the loving care taken, to ensure that clients, staff and volunteers have a centre in which to be comfortable and proud of. Moving here, gives you all a modern care centre, the facilities you need, not just for now, but for the long term.

“Knightswood is a pivotal element in the Dengie’s care community, and we Rotarians are enthusiastic in our support of the fine work that the Trust carries out. Long may it continue."
