A NEW drama filmed in and around Tollesbury is set to debut today.

The ITV show called Liar stars Downton Abbey actress Joanne Froggatt and Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd.

The duo were joined by Luther star Warren Brown and actress Zoe Tapper at Tollesbury marina back in January to film the show.

The actors, along with around 100 crew, were seen in and around the marina and marshes area and also filmed outside the offices of Woodrolfe Brokerage and around Tollesbury Saltings.

The area is set to feature prominently in the series which promises to be a significant success for the stars.

The six-part show Liar is an emotional thriller written by The Missing creators Harry and Jack Williams.

It tells the story of the night that changes the lives of teacher Laura Nielson, played by Froggatt, and renowned surgeon Andrew Earlham, played by Gruffudd.

Liar began filming in Kent and London in November last year and is being produced in conjunction with SundanceTV in the US.

Jack said: “Liar is about very current subject matter that hasn’t been treated this way on television for some time, told through the lens of two characters with two very different points of view.”

Harry added: “You’re dealing with very sensitive subject matter, and you want to be true to that but you also want to tell a good, dramatic and satisfying story - so finding that balance was the biggest challenge.”

The controversial and thought provoking show is coming to the screens soon with the first episode of Liar set to start on ITV 1 at 9pm this evening.
