A DOG rescue centre battling to secure its future has received more than 100 comments of support for its latest planning application.

AA Dog Rescue Centre, in Burnham Road, Latchingdon, owned by Charley Nathan, has applied to change the use of the land for mixed use as a dog rescue centre and equestrian facility.

The proposals put forward to Maldon District Council would result in 32 kennels on the site, an isolation block, a vet area, and 11 stables.

The plans also include a detailed mitigation scheme, relocation of exercise areas, fencing and landscaping measures to try and cut down on the noise created.

A new application was submitted earlier in the summer and so far it has gather 158 comments in support and eight objecting to the proposals.

Latchingdon Parish Council has still objected to the plans amid concerns over noise, planning history and discrepancies on the application. The objection comment stated: “Considerations have been given to the huge public support this business has, but the majority of these support letters and emails are not from people living in close proximity of the dog rescue and suffering the incessant barking/whining, especially at night, therefore this establishment already has a detrimental effect on neighbours and there is no guarantee the proposed sound proofing will reduce the noise impact being suffered.”

Ms Nathan said sound tests showed there is not a problem with noise.

Posting on t he Standard’s Facebook page she said: “All our sound tests show there is not a problem with noise, and with the works we will it will contain any noise.

“We do our utmost to try and keep our closest neighbours happy, and now have over 150 letters of support from Latchingdon parishioners, so we are praying we will be able to continue to save dogs lives.

“We are incredibly grateful to all of our supporters and those who donate bedding food etc, without you it wouldn’t be possible so thank you.”
