SPLASH Park in Maldon has been closed due to technical difficulties.

Maldon District Tourist Information Centre tweeted that the popular Promenade Park attraction was closed this morning.

The tweet said: “The #Maldon Splash Park is closed today owing to technical difficulties. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

Splash Park has been closed on and off for the last week with it shut last Monday morning, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

It had been hoped the problems would be solved by Friday, but the park has been closed again today.

The problems come during the start of the school summer holidays.

Richard Holmes, Director for Community and Customers at Maldon District Council, said: “We regret that the Maldon Splash Park has had to close on occasion over the last two weeks, mainly owing to unforeseen and unplanned maintenance out of our control.

"We have been working hard to resolve the issue and we hope to have it open permanently for the rest of the summer.

"We know the Splash Park is well loved by visitors to Promenade Park and we sincerely apologise to anyone who has been disappointed by the closures.

"Anyone who has pre-purchased Beach Hut Gold Packages or Wrist Bands should contact the Maldon District Tourist Information Centre who will be able to assist them."
