A CHARITABLE little girl has cut off more than nine inches of her hair to raise more than £500 for charity.

Eight-year-old Elsie Gibaud, of Dorset Road, Maldon, has been growing out her hair since March in order to donate it to the Little Princess Trust, who help children who have suffered hair loss from cancer treatments.

After more than three months of growing it out, Elsie went to Tc2 Hair Salon in Maldon and had nine inches cut off to donate.

So far, Elsie has raised an additional £535 for the trust.

Elsie’s mum Lousia Gibaud said: “Elsie was really inspired by her cousin who had donated her hair earlier in the year.

“It’s her first big charity thing that she’s done, she’s been growing her hair out since March so she’s also had to have a lot of patience.

“She really is chuffed with herself, and so are we, the donations she’s received have been phenomenal.”
