LOCAL bus users have a treat in store during Catch the Bus Week next week.

Volunteers from Dengie Hundred Bus Users’ Group (DHBUG) will be on hand in Essex public libraries, where they will be ready to hear your issues and demonstrate how to tap into the latest information about bus travel throughout the county.

Members are due to be in Southminster on Monday morning, Maldon on Friday July 7 in the morning and early afternoon, and Burnham Saturday July 8 in the morning and afternoon.

Catch the Bus Week is an initiative of ‘Greener Journeys’, a stakeholder group dedicated to encouraging people to make more sustainable travel choices.

Volunteer Paul Haworth said: “The aim is to encourage people who don’t normally take the bus to give it a try – and to help existing users make better use of what is on offer.”

Colleague Allan Brignall said: “This is not simply a demonstration of the marvels of modern technology. We’ll also have examples of timetables posted at bus stops, since not everyone finds these easy to follow.”

DHBUG provides news, information and help throughout the year. It campaigns for better bus services throughout the Dengie, as part of a public transport system that improves the quality of life by enhancing sustainability, reducing traffic congestion, and facilitating neighbourly inter-action.
