BURNHAM Art Trail has launched for a full week of studios and live artworks.

The annual event is held in the town centre and on The Quay. For eight days local artists take over Burnham to create an art trail rich in variety and with a range of fun creative events.

The free event is one of the highlights of Burnham’s calendar, building an impressive reputation for the quality of work on show, innovative events and its friendly welcome.

On Monday, Station House hosted many councillors and artists for the official launch of the week of activities.

In attendance was Burnham Mayor Bob Calver, leader of Maldon District Council Mark Durham, Brentwood Mayor Will Russell.

Station House is hosting the trail's community project, with Create & Flourish CIC working with local schools and community groups to design and build an artwork inspired by the landscape using plastic bottle tops.

The artwork has been installed along the wire fence at the station, with the designs on display in the house.

The rest of the trail artists provide a vibrant collection of works from atmospheric land and seascapes to contemporary printmaking, installations, textiles, jewellery, ceramics and sculpture.

Events for the rest of the week include open air painting on the Quay, secret postcards, oil painting demonstrations, a ‘caravan of curiosity’ plus many more displays at Station House

The Art Trail runs until July 1.
