A SOCIETY has begun preparations for their 2017 pantomime production set to take place in the winter season.

The Maldon Pantomime Society and Maldon Drama Group will be holding auditions within the next month for its 2017 production, which will be an adaptation of J. M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, written by Louise Markham and directed by Kev Jennings.

Peter Pan is a free spirited and mischievous young boy who can fly and never grows up, spending his never-ending childhood having adventures on the mythical island of Neverland as the leader of the Lost Boys, interacting with fairies, pirates, mermaids, Native Americans, and occasionally ordinary children from the world outside Neverland.

The society is appealing to any young performers with an aspiration to be Captain Hook or Tinker Bell, to feel the thrill of being hissed, booed, cheered and laughed at to come along to their first script read through next Tuesday.

Following the read through, auditions for the principal roles will be taking place on July 4 and 5 by appointment.

As well as the principal roles, if there are budding dancers and singers who would also like to take part in the production, open auditions will be held on Friday July 7 for chorus singers – minimum age eight – or ensemble – minimum age 12. All auditions will take place at St Peter’s Hall in Maldon.
