ARTISTS are inviting people along to be part of their creations at an independent business’ event.

Hive Artists Daisy Courtauld, Tracy Vine and Karen Jones will be creating artworks on site at Complete Lighting and Living in Fullbridge, Maldon and are inviting the general public to come along and be part of the art.

Daisy, an illustrator, will be creating a new piece of work inspired by Maldon’s rich history and will be using the Old Ironworks venue as a foundation for her new piece.

She is inviting people to bring local stories and legends for her to incorporate into the work.

Tracy, an urban artist and photographer, is asking the public to bring in a treasured possession, no matter how strange or obscure, for her to photograph, along with the story behind it, her aim being to reveal the forms by which people make sense of their lives and hold on to their memories.

Her findings will then be shown in an exhibition and published.

Karen, an illustrator and paper sculptor, will be asking passers-by to give a thought or wish which she will transfer onto one of her intricate paper cut trees. With every label that is added the artwork is re-invented.

Joining them throughout the day will be other additional hive artists, who believe art making is a human behaviour, who will be discussing their work. The artwork will range from, drawings to sculpture, designer jewellery, photography to abstract painting.

Amanda Smith, owner of Complete Lighting and Living, said: “I’m delighted to be hosting this interactive artistic event, creating wonderful spaces in our homes requires passion, a sense of ‘home’ whatever that may mean, beautiful design and great art.”

The artists will be at the store from 10am to 5pm on Saturday June 3.
