PRIMARY school pupils got a special visit from a team of firefighters.

Reception and year one pupils at Tolleshunt D’Arcy St Nicholas Primary School were treated to the visit from the fire crews.

The youngsters have been learning about the Great Fire of London during their lessons.

The visit was organised by firefighter Matthew Denney.

Pupils got a chance to sit in the fire engine, try on uniforms, practice lifesaving skills and learn more about the role of a firefighter.

A spokesman for the school said: “It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to find out about the role of firefighters and to learn about some of the equipment.

“All of the children had a great time.”

Alfie Watson, age five, said: “I loved the fire engine.”
