A TRAIN company is introducing E-tickets to try make it easier for their customers.

Greater Anglia is introducing the tickets, which will replace Print Your Own tickets.

They can either be printed or shown on a mobile device and simply scanned at the barcode readers to pass through the ticket gates. 

Launching on Saturday April, 1, the E-tickets have been optimised for mobile devices and appear on-screen as a scrollable ticket with a barcode at the top, followed by the ticket information such as journey, type, route, passenger and validity, followed by the reservation information and ticket terms and conditions at the bottom. 

Andy Camp, Greater Anglia commercial director, said it should benefit their customers.

He said: "We are committed to offering our customers great value fares and to making it as easy as possible for them to use our services. 

"We recognise that not everyone has access to a printer, and it’s much more convenient to show the ticket on your phone. It’s also more environmentally friendly.”

The E-ticket can be selected as an option when purchasing tickets online through the Greater Anglia website, and can either be printed, or shown on a mobile phone.
