A DANBURY performing arts group has picked up an award at the grand final of a Glee Club challenge.

Pupils at Tomorrow’s Talent won their place in the 2017 final of the Jack Petchey competition following regional finals in Chelmsford.

The final took place at The O2 in London where the 29-strong group from Tomorrow’s Talent performed a medley from West End musical Hamilton and Labi Siffre's classic ballad Something Inside So Strong.

It is the first time a group from a theatre school has taken part in the Glee Club Challenge.

The group performed in front of an audience of more than 1,500 and a panel of celebrity judges including West End leading performers Simon Lipkin and Daniel Boys, EastEnders starts John Partridge and Danny Boy-Hatchard, X-Factor's Brenda Edwards and BBC's Arts Correspondent Brenda Emmanus.

The group were praised by the Jack Petchey team for their professionalism and hard work and were awarded a prize of £500, which will go towards a state of the art sound system in their newly refurbished dance studios in Danbury.

Tomorrow's Talent principal Gavin Wilkinson said: “We are so proud of our young people who have worked hard for several months on this project and it's brilliant that this has been recognised by top industry professionals with this brilliant award.

“The future of performing arts is most definitely in safe hands.”

Tomorrow's Talent are holding an Easter West End workshop on April 12 at their Danbury studios.

The workshop will be led by Cleve September, who will soon be seen in the West End production of Hamilton and is open to young people aged six to 19 years.
