TWO new managers have been appointed to help run a historic Maldon building.

The Trustees of the Friends of the Moot Hall have announced Zoie Miller has been joined the team as business development manager and Paul Bonnici has taken up the role of heritage manager.

Both new managers started their roles on Monday ahead of the Moot Hall, in High Street, resuming weekly tours of the building in March.

The appointments follow the resignation of Julie Miller, who had been manager since 2009.

Julie has stepped down after being co-opted to Maldon Town Council as a councillor for the west ward.

Zoie, who has worked all over the world in film production and teaching, said: “When the opportunity arose as the Business Manager for the Moot Hall it seemed the perfect role to combine my skills and interests, I look forward to joining the team.”

Paul, who joined the Moot Hall team in 2014, will now be responsible for co-ordinating the popular weekly tours and group visits to the Grade 1 listed.

Julie, who will continue as a trustee of the Friends of the Moot Hall, said: “The trustees of the Moot Hall are really pleased to welcome Zoie Miller as business development and education manager and congratulate Paul on his promotion to heritage manager.

“We look forward to an exciting future for the Moot Hall as the new management team move us forward with new ideas and fresh eyes.

“We hope to build on our past success whilst creating a vibrant visitor experience and educational resource and offering a unique wedding venue for couples who hold their special day at the Moot Hall. None of this would be possible without Maldon Town Council, who own the Moot Hall and we extend our thanks to them for their ongoing support.”
