A DANBURY performing arts group has made it into the grand final of a Glee Club challenge.

Pupils at Tomorrow’s Talent won their place in the 2017 final of the Jack Petchey competition following regional finals in Chelmsford.

Each group performed twice for the judges at the Civic Theatre on Saturday.

The 29-strong group from Tomorrow’s Talent, which is based at Well Lane, performed Something Inside So Strong and a medley from musical Hamilton to impress the judges.

It is the first time a group from a theatre school has taken part in the Glee Club Challenge.

They will next take to the stage at London’s Indigo at The O2 Area on March 19.

All the finalists are in with a chance of winning a share of £5,000 of prizes.

Gavin Wilkinson, creative director for Tomorrow’s Talent, said: “We love performing and it just felt the right time to enter this year’s Glee.

“Boot camp was really useful, well-structured and worthwhile giving us good constructive feedback.

“The standard of the competition was exceptional and there was a great vibe backstage. Two of our boys have never performed on a big stage before and they are buzzing. We are a big family group and working hard for the final. We want to win.”

Now in its sixth year the event sees 12 groups battle it out in the final to be named the 2017 Glee Club champions.

Tickets for the final cost £13 and are available from Monday February 27 from www.theO2.co.uk
