COMMUNITY projects across the Maldon district have benefitted from thousands of pounds from a power station funding scheme.

Magnox, which runs Bradwell Power Station, handed out more than £600,000 to projects around the UK as part of its socio-economic programme.

During 2016 the company supported seven projects across Bradwell and Maldon.

These included refurbishment of the Bradwell-on-Sea Community Shop, redevelopment of the Marigold Wood access way in Goldhanger and the Maldon and Essex Lifesaving Life Support roadshow.

Scott Raish, Bradwell Site Closure Director, said: “We are very pleased to be able to support the communities in which we work by funding projects and schemes that help encourage and develop education and skills, social infrastructure and sustainable employment.

“We have helped a number of organisations and charities to achieve their goals by providing finances and support, and it is our joint intention to make sure that our socio?economic support continues to achieve the greatest possible impact.

“We have also closely with a number of our stakeholders who are also active in the community to help achieve this.

“We also recognise the importance of being a good neighbour in the communities we operate in, and would encourage smaller organisations to apply to us for support for things like sports shirts and nursery equipment.”
