YOBS smashed windows at Burnham businesses in an act of “mindless vandalism”.

Three windows at Forever Ink tattoo studio in Station Road were smashed at 1.40am last Thursday.

It is understood neighbouring Chinese takeaway Oriental House was also targeted by vandals the same night.

The vandalism comes after a string of incidents across the town in the last six months.

Back in August crooks carried out two raids at the Quayside Restaurant and the Royal Burnham Yacht Club on the same night.

The same month it was revealed crime levels had risen by 15 per cent in 12 months, sparking concern among residents.

A petition was then set up calling for more bobbies on the beat.

Burnham mayor Ron Pratt said he was shocked.

He said: “I am dismayed at this mindless vandalism.

“It is a cause for concern and the lack of police patrols is always in people’s minds.

"People are always wanting more bobbies on the beat and here is another example of where our community believes patrols would help.”

Police are appealing for information over the incident at Forever Ink.

A spokesman said: “We were called to a business in Station Road in Burnham to reports of criminal damage on Thursday, January 12.

“Three windows had been smashed at around 1.40am.”

Anyone with information should call 101.

The owners of Forever Ink declined to comment.
