FUNDING has been secured for a “life-saving” defibrillator to be installed in Maldon’s Promenade Park.

Maldon Saints YFC have teamed with Maldon Prom Parkrun to pay for the defibrillator which will be for public use in the park.

Once installed, the equipment will be owned and managed by Maldon District Council.

In a post on their Facebook page, Maldon Prom Parkrun said: “On behalf of the core team we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated towards this life-saving device.

“One day it could make a real difference to someone and you’ll be able to say you played a part in it.”

No date has been set for when the equipment will be installed.

Cllr Ron Pratt, Chairman of Community Services said “Council officers have been in conversation with Maldon parkrun and Maldon Saints YFC about the installation of a public use defibrillator in Promenade Park.

"It is great to hear they have now secured the required funds and we will continue to work in partnership with them to ensure it is installed and maintained. Public use defibrillators are becoming more wide spread and provide the best chance for someone who has suffered a cardiac arrest.

"I would like to congratulate Maldon Park Run and Maldon Saints YFC and I am please we have been able to work with them to support this valuable addition to the park and potentially life changing system for the community.”
