A TEENAGER has penned an emotional tribute song in memory of his friend who died after battling a heart condition.

Jordan Martin, 18, died in September last year after being diagnosed with Acute Myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle.

The Bradwell teenager was labelled a ‘miracle boy’ by newspapers after enduring regular visits and major heart surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital from the age of seven weeks to seven years.

His friend Aaron Norman, 19, of South Woodham Ferrers has now written Jordan’s Song in his memory.

The heartfelt song, with lyrics such as “don’t leave, I’m not strong enough on my own”, has been liked hundreds of times on Facebook.

Aaron, who went to Ormiston Rivers Academy with Jordan, said: “It was a shock knowing I would never be able to see him again. It was horrible.

“The reason I did the song is for his parents.

“I wanted them to know that people cared still and that he will never be forgotten.

“We were quite close at school and spent every break and lunch time together.”

Aaron, who is in a band and hopes to pursue music professionally, wrote to song in one sitting.

He said: “I was up in my room playing the guitar and I had him in my mind.

“I just started putting some words on paper and that is kind of how it happened.

“It is doing so well – I am over the moon.

“A lot of people have said it is amazing and is really touching. All that matters to me is that his family like it.”

Aaron said he hopes the song will keep the memory of Jordan, who had been an apprentice at Southminster Butchers, alive.
