WORLD favourite sports cars will be passing through Maldon as part of a round Britain coastal drive.
A group of sensational Jaguar E-types will be travelling through Maldon heading for Folkestone on Wednesday next week.
They will be taking part in the ‘E-type Club Round Britain Coastal Drive’ supporting Prostate Cancer UK.
Over 160 beautiful motors from around the world will be participating in the 18-day, 3,600-mile event. Some will be doing just one stage, others all 18.
This event, which is believed to be unique, is the brainchild of author Philip Porter who recently recovered from prostate cancer.
He will be driving the entire route in his red E-type convertible, 848 CRY, which appeared in the iconic film, The Italian Job, starring Michael Caine.
Supporters of the event include Jools Holland, Brian Johnson, Jeremy Clarkson, Martin Brundle, Murray Walker and F1 legend Ross Brawn who will be driving one of his E-types on two stages.
The drive began at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in Chichester on September 12 and is expected to conclude there with a lap of the circuit on September 29.
The procession of cars is expected to be departing Maldon at around 10am on Wednesday through the High Street, but could be subject to change.
