A HYPNOTHERAPY centre will be open in Burnham from today.

Jane Williams, 45, of Tillingham, has been working in the field of physical treatments for several years, training to become a qualified hypnotherapist this year.

Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy used to create subconscious changes in patients, including new responses, attitudes, behaviours or feelings towards aspects of their life.

Jane said: “It comes down to the reptilian complex of fight, flight, and freeze, which has existed for millions of years. By participating in hypnotherapy, the person can create new patterns in their subconscious to follow to maintain control of themselves and giving power back to yourself, finding new ways to react to situations.”

Jane offers treatments for phobias, stress, Irritable Bowels Syndrome (IBS), self-esteem and other conditions.

She said: “There isn’t a full cure for things like IBS and cancer, but hypnotherapy will allow clients to develop their patterns to become the strongest person they can. In our sessions they do all the work, I’m here as a guide.”

Jane has thanked the people of Burnham for their support and interest leading up to her clinic’s opening, saying the town is a “wonderful” place to set up.

She added: “I’ve had lots of interest and enthusiastic people since I announced I’d be setting up, it’s been wonderful.

“Burnham can be a really nice, peaceful place, and offers family and friends somewhere to go and relax while the patient has their session. After just visiting the town and walking around, you’re already half way to getting better.”

“Hypnotherapy Essex” is based on Burnham High Street, with opening hours of 9am to 8pm, though Jane is flexible with hours. Sessions cost £70 each, with the first consultation free.
