ENGLAND Cricket captain Alastair Cook returned to Maldon this weekend to support a charity event for the David Randall Foundation.

‘Rock Up For Randall’ returned for a fourth year and proved as big a success as always.

The day was attended by England Cricket Captain, and former teammate of David Randall at Maldon Cricket Club, Alastair Cook, a patron of the David Randall Foundation.

The fundraiser featured a day of cricket, activities and live music to keep everyone in attendance entertained, and in total raised more than £12,000.

The Foundation was set up following the death of David Randall in 2012.

David died of bowel cancer aged 27 on July 6 2012. The Foundation was founded in his memory by friends and family.

‘Rock up for Randall’ is a mixture of David’s two biggest passions, cricket and live music.

The event was held at Maldon Cricket Club on Drapers Farm, Goldhanger Road, on Bank Holiday Sunday.

The day featured Kwik Cricket tournament for children in the morning, a charity cricket match in the afternoon and live musical performances in the evening.

There were also climbing walls, inflatable, BBQ’s, a bar, and a range of other activities and events to keep people entertained throughout the day.

The money raised by the event will be used to go towards the charity’s ‘Good Days’ programmes which offer those with life limiting illnesses a once in a lifetime trip.
