A CELEBRATORY picnic was held to mark the 15th anniversary of a group which offers support to local charities.

Maldon and District Community Voluntary Service (CVS) celebrated the landmark last weekend with a picnic in Promenade Park, Maldon.

The group, launched in May 2001, provides support to local charities, groups and people who are making a difference to the people of Maldon.

The CVS was recognised for the work it has done on its own projects, as well as helping to support others’.

The trailblazing work with the Men in Sheds projects was highlighted in particular. The project launhed in Maldon in 2014 and is now working across Essex to help create a sense of community for local men.

The event was attended by Councillor Peter Elliot, chair of the District Council, and Maldon Town Mayor Richard Miller, who both praised the ongoing work and contribution of the CVS.

The picnic was closed by CVS Director, Sarah Laskar, who thanked the Trustees for their work and drew special attention to Ken Harris and Lindsey Read who recently stepped down after being part of the CVS since the beginning.
