A FORMER Bishop for the African country Botswana conducted a confirmation service at St Peter’s Chapel in Bradwell-on-Sea.
Reverend Dr Trevor Mwamba, who served as Bishop of Botswana from February 2005 to September 2012, conducted a confirmation service to just over 150 people in the chapel on Sunday July 24.
The splendidly warm and sunny service was supported by the Chelmsford Cathedral Girls’ Choir, assisted by other members of the choir.
During the service Bishop Trevor gave an address referring to the sacred building that had witnesses over a thousand years of prayer.
It was his first visit to this ancient chapel of St Peter’s at Bradwell and gave communion to 127 people during the service.
Bishop Trevor confirmed eight people during the service.
David Thorpe, Chapel Warden, said: “The members of St Thomas’ were thanked for arranging this grand service and supplying the most welcome refreshments and the delightful cakes.
“Bishop Trever promised to return to Bradwell in the future and invited the parish to visit him in Barking in East London.”
