AN APPEAL against the decision by Maldon District Council to reject plans for 80 new homes in Burnham has been delayed.

Gladman Developers had two applications rejected by the council in January and September last year to build 80 homes on Southminster Road in Burnham.

The council’s issue was the new houses would be too close to the Mangapp Manor and Railway museum businesses, resulting in high noise levels for the new residents.

The appeal was set to resume on Monday for three days, but due to a miscommunication about the venue, the inspector chose to postpone the appeal to November this year.

A spokesman for Maldon District Council said: “Unfortunately, planning notices for the appeal read it was taking place at The Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in Burnham, when actually it was due to take place at The Royal Burnham Yacht Club nearby.

“Despite how close the venues were, the inspector chose to delay the appeal so accurate venue information could be sent out to everyone well in advance.”

The appeal is set to resume on an undecided date in early November.
