TWO people remain in a critical condition with ‘life-changing’ injuries following a crash in Bradwell-on-Sea.

Considerable resources were scrambled on Sunday May 22 shortly after 6.10pm with reports a Yamaha YZF-R1 and a Kawasaki ZX 1000 were in collision in Trusses Road, Bradwell-on-Sea.

Police forces, a rapid response medic vehicle, two ambulance crews, a fire crew, plus an air ambulance from East of England Ambulance Service and Herts Air Ambulance Service were sent to the scene.

The Kawasaki rider, a 36-year-old man from Colchester, was taken to the Royal London Hospital with wrist and head injuries.

The Yamaha rider, a 29-year-old man from Witham, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with multiple chest, leg, and pelvis injuries.

A spokesperson from East of England Ambulance Service said: “Paramedic teams treated the two patients at the scene. The patient with serious injuries from Witham was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a serious condition.

“The patient with wrist and head injuries was airlifted to The Royal London Hospital in a serious condition.”

It is believed that one of the motorcycles t-boned the other, causing both to crash, but it has not been established how fast they were going.

A spokesperson from Essex Police said: “Police are investigating the road traffic collision involving two motorcycles.

“Both remain in hospital in a critical condition with injuries that were described as life-changing.

“Witnesses are asked to contact PC Paul Chambers on 101.”
