A TEENAGER has been charged after a police car chase between Maldon and Chelmsford.

The incident began at Wycke Hill, Maldon, when officers saw a silver Ford Focus making off at around 1.10am last Friday.

Police officers and the force’s helicopter tracked the car to Robin Way, Chelmsford, where two motorists stopped the car and made off from the scene.

Two men were arrested shortly afterwards.

A boy, 16, from Chelmsford, was later charged with failing to stop when directed, driving without due care and attention, driving other than in accordance with a licence, possession of cannabis, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving without insurance and failing to stop after a road accident.

He was bailed to appear at Chelmsford Youth Court on May 20.

A 20-year-old man from Chelmsford was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle. He was later released on bail until June 16 pending further enquiries.
