AN event to get people talking about mental illness took place in Maldon.

Time to Talk Day aims to get as many people as possible across England talking about mental health.

Maldon and District Community Voluntary Services held an afternoon tea event at Octagon in St. Mary’s Church on Thursday.

The free event saw 30 people enjoy tea, scones and cake and a chat.

Linda Dutaut of Maldon and District CVS said: “This was our first ‘Time to Talk Day’ Afternoon Tea and we are very encouraged by the number of people who came along and by the conversations that took place.

“It’s very important to get people talking about mental health but also just to get people talking.

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

“Taking the time to talk can reduce isolation and stress and can make a big difference, especially to those affected by mental health.

“I’m certain that this will become an annual event on the M&DCVS calendar.”
