VOLUNTEERING organisations marked the launch on a new specialist countywide website designed by a Maldon company.

Representatives and volunteers attended an event in Maldon library on Thursday morning for the launch of the Volunteer Essex website.

Simultaneous events were held in libraries at various locations throughout the county.

Deputy mayor Richard Miller cut the ribbon to officially launch the website in Maldon District.

He said: “Bringing together a wide range of volunteering opportunities in one excellent website is proving very popular with both prospective volunteers and beneficiary organisations.

“It will be a real plus in helping match those wishing to help our community and those needing supporters right across the Maldon District.”

The Volunteer Essex website was designed and built by Maldon company Pipemedia.

Luke Pipe, of Pipemedia, and Sarah Laskar, Director of Maldon and District Community Voluntary Service, who both attended the event, worked together in the development of the site to produce a ‘one stop shop’ for anyone interested in finding out about volunteering across the county.

Sarah said: “We are really proud that Maldon & District CVS has taken the lead in developing this resource for the county of Essex, with particular thanks to local businesses Pipemedia and Hipimages for their key roles.”
