A PENSIONER has slammed ambulance bosses after being left in unbearable pain for 90 minutes following a serious fall.

David Jones, 65, was visiting his son’s father-in-law at The Leas in Burnham when he slipped and fell on Friday.

He suffered a serious break in his arm and was left unable to move.

Mr Jones’s worried family called an ambulance at 6.10pm, but a paramedic did not arrive until 7.40pm.

Mr Jones, of Main Road, St Lawrence, said: “I couldn’t put any pressure on my shoulder.

“I was lying on the damp grass from 6.10pm to 7.40pm.

“When the paramedic arrived, she said she hadn’t been called until 7pm and had to come all the way from Chelmsford.”

Mr Jones,asemi-retired chef, had to then ask his son-in-law to drive him to Broomfield Hospital, as there were no ambulances available.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 6:18pm on November 13 to reports of a fall which was coded as serious but not life-threatening condition.

“We sent a rapid response vehicle (RRV) which responded within 54 minutes of this first call.

“The time we aim to be getting to patients in this condition is within 30 minutes.

“We would like to apologise for the ambulance wait and wish Mr Jones a speedy recovery. We also ask him to contact us, should he want us to investigate the time taken to reach and treat him."
