It’s almost time for the stunning Four Seasons by Candlelight tour to set off – an eye-catching orchestral production finishing with Antonio Vivaldi’s the Four Seasons (le quattro stagioni) – which will be stopping in Southend in December.

The beautiful concert, conducted by David Juritz who will also feature on violin, showcases a fantastic programme of 18th Century classics performed in an evocative candle-lit setting, with the Mozart Festival Orchestra resplendent in full orchestral costume of the period.

The concert programme is crowned by Vivaldi’s masterpiece, one of the most revered classical pieces in the world today, several hundred years after it was written.

Antonio Vivaldi was a prolific composer with hundreds of concertos to his name but, despite his works being popular during the Baroque era, he died a pauper.

The performance will feature a number of greatest hits of the period such as Mozart: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik; Clarke: Trumpet Suite; Pachelbel: Canon; Bach: Brandenburg Concerto No 3; Handel: Let the Bright Seraphim, Eternal Source of Light Divine and Lascia ch'io pianga from Rinaldo, before concluding with Vivaldi’s seminal work.

The concert is said to “allowmusic fans of all ages the chance to experience the compositions in an environment that conjures up the atmosphere of the time in which they were first performed”.

The Four Seasons by Candlelight is by the Mozart Festival Orchestra, with David Juritz apearing as conductor / violinist, Caroline MacPhie as soprano, and Crispian Steele-Perkins on trumpet.
