LARGE gangs are not “roaming the streets” of Maldon despite the seizure o f an arsenal of weapons in recent years, according to a former police sergeant.
Last month, the Standard revealed Essex Police had seized 11 guns, 47 knives and 33 ‘other’ weapons from people in the district in the last three years.
The information was released as part of a Freedom of Information request.
Former police sergeant Richard Miller, who retired from the force last year, said it was unlikely all the weapons seized were related to criminal activity.
