Police have seized an arsenal of deadly weapons from across the Maldon district, the Standard can reveal.

A Freedom of Information request shows Essex Police seized 11 guns, 47 knives and 33 ‘other’ weapons from people in the district in the last three years.

Police book the potentially lethal objects on to their Property Management System (PMS), which means they were either seized, found or stored as evidence.

Six shot guns and one rifle were booked from Maldon between 2012-2013.

During this time frame 14 knives were collected from the Maldon area and two from the Dengie.

A wide range of other weapons were also taken off the district’s streets, including a crossbow, machete, Samurai swords and a wooden Tonfa, which is used in martial arts.
