A former plumber turned games designer has been recognised for his design skills after winning an international competition.

Dan Bavin, of Burnham, has been awarded a prestigious internship with top games developer Ninja Theory after winning a placement through the annual Computer Graphics Student Awards.

The recent University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) games design graduate is a specialist 3d artist.

The 29-year-old created a fully working, game-ready scene with an observatory which houses an abandoned ballroom where an eccentric professor lives.

Dan will begin the paid three month-long internship in August.

He said: “You're usually your own worst critic, so when something awesome like this happens it always comes as a shock."
