Maldon and Heybridge Royal British Legion members installed a new flower vase at the town’s war memorial statue to offer residents a permanent place to leave flowers.
The limestone vase was installed during a half hour memorial service where Legion members paid tribute to fallen World War 1 and 2 ex-servicemen.
Town Mayor Councillor Mark Heard, Branch President Albert Kilby, Branch Secretary Peter Webb and Cllr Stephen Nunn were just some of those in attendance, on Sunday July 19.
The vase cost roughly £500 and was paid for by the Legion from part of a £2,500 donation from the Mayor’s Charity Fund, when Cllr Nunn was Mayor earlier this year.
