BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson is looking forward to getting back in the swing of things.

The Ramblers players return to preseason training on Saturday and Wilson is hoping to put the finishing touches to his side ahead of the Essex Senior League season.

After being relegated from Ryman League division one north last campaign, Wilson, who was brought in for the last few games of the season after the departure of then manager Bertie Brayley, is looking to rebuild the Ramblers side.

Wilson said: “I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

“We are back in for training on Saturday and I will be able to assess what condition we are in.

“It will start coming thick and fast with Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday sessions and games.”

But despite wanting to get back into the managerial hot-seat and take charge of things on the pitch, Wilson is not keen on this time of year.

He said: “Pre-season is a horrible time of year. It’s a time when you see what you have and how many turn up for training.

“It’s a time when you get rid of the ifs and maybes and see who will be at the club. Once that is sorted out you can get on with the real business at hand.

“I am hoping to have in excess of 20 players on the pitch on Saturday with more to come.”

Also Wilson is making moves to strengthen his Burnham side for the season ahead.

He added: “I am hoping to conclude a deal for a couple of players with Ryman premier experience, if I can agree terms.

“One is very big name on the non-league circuit and we have agreement in principle but will have to wait and see.

“I am looking at the final few pieces of the jigsaw now.”
