Discount giant Lidl is drawing the battle lines in its bid to bring a store to Maldon.
The supermarket had its plans blocked by Maldon District Council last November, despite widespread public support for it to set up shop.
It has now lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate on the grounds that the council’s reason for refusal was “imprecise”.
