Two cyber whizz kids could become the country’s future code-breakers.

Ryan Griffiths, of Southminster, and Scott McQuarrie, of Cold Norton, were the winners of the CyberCenturion competition held at Bletchley Park’s National Museum of Computing.

The contest, broadcast by Sky News, is designed to inspire youngsters towards a career in cyber security.

It gave them a chance to experience scenarios which existing professionals tackle on a daily basis.

Eight teams made it through to the finals of the competition and it was Ryan and Scott’s five-pupil team, Kegs Engineers, from King Edward VI Grammar School to reign victorious.

Scott said: “Given the time limit, especially towards the end of the competition, we were under a lot of pressure.

“It was quite hard trying to do as much as you can towards the last minute, but it was really good to win.”
