Maldon’s longest-standing stallholders are urging shoppers not to forget them.
As the trial of a Monday market in Maldon High Street continues, the stallholders in Butt Lane are concerned their market may be overlooked.
Butt Lane jewellery stallholder Terry Frost, who has had a stall in the town since 1979, said: “We want our customers to know we’re still trading.
“We don’t want to be superceded by the Monday market.
“We want our customers to know we’re passionate about our market.
“We survive on word of mouth trade and goodwill.”
Butt Lane books and stationery stallholder Ray Mendham, who has traded in Maldon for 18 years, added: “If given the chance when the High Street trial comes to an end, we would like to put in a bid to run it.
“We could bring a different variety of stalls.”
