Concerns have been raised over the safety of new railway station steps.
Burnham Town Council is to go ahead with building steps up the embankment to link Station Road with the town’s railway station car park after gaining planning permission in October.
The town council will use money from Essex County Council’s Community Initiative Fund to pay for the £14,000 project and Abellio Greater Anglia will also be helping with some costs.
At a town council meeting, clerk David McNeill said: “My concern is there would need to be a safety barrier at the curb to stop anyone rushing into the road.”
Mr McNeill suggested a self-closing gate.
