Four hundred drivers were stopped in Maldon and Heybridge as part of a road safety operation.
Eight people were caught using their mobile phones while driving, nine were not wearing seatbelts and one person had a number plate that did not conform to regulations.
Officers stopped 100 vehicles in each of the following roads - Colchester Road, Holloway Road and Goldhanger Road in Heybridge and Mundon Road in Maldon.
Last Thursday, Police were also based in Morrisons car park where they carried out eyesight tests.
Two men aged 89 and 94 failed the tests and both were driven home.
One surrendered his driving licence and both had paperwork submitted to the Department for Licensing.
Their licences may now be revoked.
