POLICE say finding a man wearing muddy Superdry clothes in Maldon on Saturday evening is key to finding two rapists after two men arrested were released without charge.

A woman in her 20s was walking away from the Fullbridge supermarket in the underpass at Mill Lane, when she was approached by two men between 5.45pm and 6.15pm on Saturday, January 24.

They dragged her off to bushes and raped her.

On Monday night, two men were arrested on suspicion of rape. Both have now been released without charge.

DCI Simon Werrett said: "We are grateful for the continued support of the local community. We have received a substantial number of calls from members of the public which we are following up over the next few days.

"It is likely that the person responsible would have returned home with a muddy Superdry coat or trousers. If anyone saw this, I’d like to speak to them.”

Tuesday's update: Pair arrested in connection with rape

Anyone with any information should contact detectives at Chelmsford on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
