The majority of primary schools in the Maldon district have reached the average national standard, according to the latest league table.
Out of the 18 primary schools, only two failed to achieve higher than the national average of 65 per cent of students attaining a level four or high in maths, reading and writing.
This year, a more challenging floor standard has been introduced nationwide - with the proportion of pupils required to reach the expected level rising by 5 per cent, from 60 per cent to 65 per cent.
From the Maldon district, Heybridge Primary School and Southminister Primary School did not meet this standard, achieving 53 per cent and 61 per cent respectively, and Maldon primary school was borderline with 65 per cent.
