A great-grandfather was rescued by two kind youngsters who pushed him home in his mobility scooter after it broke down and left him stranded at the side of the road.

Robert Fifield, 82, had no idea how he was going to get back to his home in Lawling Avenue, Heybridge, when his scooter stopped working but was soon rescued by two “knights in shining armour.”

He said: “You hear so much about young people and all the trouble they cause but these two young ladies were complete strangers and yet they came to help me."
