Repairs to Maldon's Hythe Quay could be given the green light.
Planning officers have recommended that the repairs to the collapsed front of the Hythe Quay should be approved at a meeting of the Central Area Planning Committee on October 22.
A section of the Hythe Quay was fenced off last November November because of subsidence, but the quayside was damaged further during the tidal surge in December.
The repairs would including replacing the existing horizontal concrete sleepers with vertical sheet steel piles and repairing and replacing the existing concrete aprons which make up the existing quay’s surface.
Two letters of objection have been received, citing reasons including the failure to include remedial work to the 'dolphins' (upright wooden posts to the outer edges of the quay) and bollards proving a hazard to users of incoming barges.
