Maldon Town Regatta is an event not to be missed this Saturday (Sept 27).

Plenty of shoreside fun along with smack, bawley and yacht racing will keep the crowds entertained.

Racing starts at 8.30am with the last race of the morning at 8.50am.

The Parade of Sail Race and dinghy racing will take place at 2pm.

Events on the Prom kick off at noon, however, there will be a few changes to the shoreside arrangements this year due to the repair work on the quay.

Stalls have been moved next to the Prom by the ornamental lake this year.

Chairman Gerry Courtney said: “Despite the trials and tribulations of the Hythe Quay partially collapsing into the River Blackwater last winter, the Maldon Town Regatta is taking place and will be as much fun as usual.

“On the water, we will have sailing, rowing and of course the duck race.

“On shore this year the stalls have been moved on to the Prom in the park.

“This will possibly give a better view of the duck race and an excellent opportunity to get your camera out to photo some of the spectacular vessels in the Parade of Sail.”

The Maldon Blackwater Model Boat Club will be demonstrating their boats on the boating lake but are very keen for members of the public to have a go.

There will be music and other free entertainment, including a band and dancing on the patio of the Queens Head in the evening.
