A charity ‘cake-off’ raised £1,100 for Essex First Responders.
Amber Mansworth, 44, of St John’s Street, Tollesbury, organised the event with friend Jayne Woodley.
The competition, held at the Kings Head, Tollesbury High Street, last Saturday left judges choosing between more than 50 cakes as entries poured in.
Amber said: “It was very good, it was very busy and lots of people turned up.
“We raised more than one thousand pounds and I don’t know how many cakes there were, but there were 50+.
“There were a few men who entered, one man said he had never baked before and he won the mens category and was overall winner with his lemon drizzle cake.”
There were three categories, children, women and men.
Winners: Childrens category- 1st- Louis Piche-Baker, 2nd- Zoe Smith, 3rd- Lucy Davenport Womens category- 1st- Marion Martin, 2nd- Sandra Cook, 3rd- Marian Ponder Mens category- 1st- Derek Clover (overall winner), 2nd- Sam Rigby, 3rd- Jack Ellis
