A pensioner is getting up three times a night to stop oil spilling from a broken tank into the River Blackwater.
George Fuller, 79, of The Street, Salcott, spent £395 on 700 litres of oil at the beginning of August, enough for the year.
Two weeks ago the tank started to leak.
Mr Fuller said: “A seam parted at the bottom of the tank.
“I called Colchester Borough Homes to tell them and try and get them to fix it and they keep fobbing me off.
“They said I could have new heating.
“I don’t want the new heating, it’s £3 a day and I’m a pensioner.”
