The Mayor of Burnham defended the area against the possibility of cuts to the Outreach programme run by the Citizens Advice Bureau.

At the Community Services Committee meeting last Tuesday, councillors heard that unless the CAB found other sources of funding than the council, Outreach services to Burnham and Southminster may be at risk.

The popular service offers weekly advice sessions and home visits to vulnerable residents in the Burnham and Southminster area.

It is estimated between 800 and 1,000 people use the Burnham and Southminster services each year.

The service is funded through CAB reserves and will be at risk in the future unless other funding is secured.
